AD, General Ledger A description begins General Ledger A, 1750–1772. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , folio 318–19.

For the stay of Capt. Sir Thomas Adams and his frigate Boston in the Potomac near Mount Vernon, see GW to George William Fairfax, 27 June 1770. GW noted in his diary on 6 July: “Mr. Wallace Burser to the Boston came in the Afternoon & purchased & Killed my Bull—the 4 quarters of which weighed 710 lbs. Nett” (Diaries description begins Donald Jackson and Dorothy Twohig, eds. The Diaries of George Washington. 6 vols. Charlottesville, Va., 1976–79. description ends , 2:253).

On 23 Mar. 1770 GW paid William Crawford £27 on behalf of Harrison Manley. Manley had sent the £27 by Lund Washington. See General Ledger A description begins General Ledger A, 1750–1772. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , folio 115.

GW may be referring to the armorer from the British man-of-war Boston which was anchored in the Potomac River near Mount Vernon. See GW to George William Fairfax, 27 June 1770, n.6.

Augustus Darrell took his oath as a subsheriff of Fairfax County in November 1768 and was appointed collector of the parish levy for Truro, the lower parish in Fairfax County, in December 1769.

William Adams was sheriff of Fairfax County and collected levies for the upper, or Fairfax, parish.

On 20 July GW was out riding and “met an Augusta Man with Horses with whom I returnd & purchasd four” (Diaries description begins Donald Jackson and Dorothy Twohig, eds. The Diaries of George Washington. 6 vols. Charlottesville, Va., 1976–79. description ends , 2:255).
