To John Jay from Peter Jay, 9 August 1763

From Peter Jay

[Rye, Tuesday, 9th. Augt. 1763]

Dear [Johnny]1

it’s very long since I’ve recd: any Letters from you. I recd: last Post a Letter from Doctr: Johnson who remembers his Love to you and is desirous that you should write to him, and he would be glad to know how the College goes on now—2 I would have you gratify him wth a Letter next week per the Post, wch. he has a right to expect from you, and altho I believe things go on well in the College now, yet I would not have you write more than may be communicated out of College. We remember our love to you, and I always am, dear Johnny, Yr Affect: Father.
