2Capt. Thomas Hanson Marshall (1731–1801) lived at Marshall Hall across the Potomac from Mount Vernon in Charles County, Maryland. The £4 that Posey brought to GW was a partial payment of Marshall’s debt to GW of £9.15.7½, the rest of which he had paid off by 26 Mar. 1763.
