[Philadelphia, April 17, 1793]
Mr. Hamilton presents his Compliments to Mr. Hodgsdon. He has signed a warrant in favour of the Qr. M. Generals Departt. for 40000 Dollars2—to be forwarded to him in Post Notes of the Bank of the UStates. If Mr. Hodgsdon has not received the warrant he will do well to call for it as time presses.

1. Hodgdon, who was quartermaster general of the United States Army from March, 1791, to April, 1792, was Army storekeeper at Philadelphia.
2. This warrant is dated April 16, 1793, and is numbered 2698 (, XVII, 519). The money was for supplies for the troops under Major General Anthony Wayne, who was preparing for an expedition against the western Indians.
