[letter not found]

¶ From Henry Warren. Letter not found. 19 September 1806. Acknowledged in Daniel Brent to Warren, 18 Oct. 18[06], addressed to Warren at Plymouth, as “enclosing the declaration of Joseph Holmes, master of the Schooner Drake, in relation to the Impressment and detention of Charles Burgess, one of the Hands of the Drake, in the West Indies.” Brent recommended that Warren procure evidence of Burgess’s citizenship from “the friends of the Impressed man,” with which the State Department could pursue his release (DNA: RG 59, Correspondence with Collectors of Customs regarding Impressed Seamen, box 12).
