The Book you will herewith receive contains the Journals and proceedings of Congress for the year 1776.1 Among these—and agreable to the pages marked below, you will find all the Resolutions that I am possessed of, respecting the Regiments and Officers of Artillery now in Camp—and also the establishment of the Army for 1777. I have the Honor to be with great respect and esteem Genn Yr Most Obedt servant

1. GW sent Journals of the Continental Congress. Containing the Proceedings from January 1, 1776, to January 1, 1777 (York, Pa., 1778). This volume, printed by John Dunlap, was the second volume of journals published by order of Congress.
2. GW was referring the board to resolutions of 9 Jan., 16 Sept., 26 Nov., 30 Nov., and 27 Dec. 1776 (see , 4:43, 5:762–63, 6:981, 995, 1045–46).
