1. The enclosed undated document was a copy, in McHenry’s writing, of the several returns desired of the quartermaster general’s department by the Board of War (PPAmP). For the list of the returns, see List of Returns Requested by the Board of War, c.29 Jan., enclosed in Steuben to GW, 26–30 January.
The Board of War had already requested the returns from Greene (see Benjamin Stoddert of the Board of War to Greene, 31 Jan., in
5:334).
