Manuscript in George Washington Papers, Library of Congress. 24 March-31 October 1774. Manuscript in Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, Calif. description ends GW adds to this entry: “By Mr Fitzgeralds acct allow’d in recg the above Sum—23.6.0.”

2. The Cash Memoranda, 1772-75 description begins “Pocket-day-Book or Cash-Memorandums,” 9 Aug. 1772–27 May 1773, 29 May 1773–22 March 1774, 26 Oct. 1774–3 May 1775. Manuscript in George Washington Papers, Library of Congress. 24 March-31 October 1774. Manuscript in Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, Calif. description ends correctly lists 1,000 bushels of Indian corn; when the amount was copied into the ledger the copyist mistakenly wrote 100.

6. For GW’s Chattins Run land, see Bryan Fairfax to GW, 20 Jan. 1772, n.1, and 3 Aug. 1772, n.4. Robert Ashby lived nearby at Yew Hill in Fauquier County. Benjamin Ashby served as a junior officer in the 11th, later designated the 7th, Virginia Regiment, throughout most of the Revolution.

Stone for abt 600 Barls of Indn corn & 10/ be taken away by the 20th of March”; and on the sixteenth “Charge Going Lanphire with my acceptance of Wm Wilson’s order for £26.16.—to be paid at the Octr Meeting—26.10.”
