Charlestown, 25 June 1793. In conformity to the copyright law, he encloses for deposit in the office of the Secretary of State a copy of The American Universal Geography, of which he is author and proprietor.

Jedidiah Morse (1761–1826), a Yale graduate who served as Congregational minister at Charlestown, Massachusetts, 1789–1819, was a staunch conservative in religion and politics and a prolific author whose popular works on geography were the first on that subject published in America. TJ acquired a later edition of the enclosed work, which first appeared in 1789 as The American Geography ( ; No. 3963).
