8In consideration of this distinguished guest, who was actually Prince Henry of Prussia (see BF to WTF, Sept. 13), Vicq d’Azyr opened the society’s Oct. 26 meeting by praising the “comte” for his interest in science and the arts, which he observed were making progress in Prussia. Among the speakers that day were the abbé Tessier, who presented his research on making bread from different kinds of grains, and Mauduyt, who discussed the medical uses of electricity: Jour. de Paris, Oct. 29 and Nov. 3, 1784.
