General Orders
Head-Quarters Middle-Brook Monday March 29th 1779.
Parole Eppingen—C. Signs Embuin Ems.
At a General Court Martial whereof Coll Hall was President—Henrich Lily and Henrich Winkler Dragoons in the Marechausie Corps were tried for, “Consulting a plot to desert to the enemy and carry with them two horses the property of Captain Von Heer[”] and acquitted.1
The General approves the sentence and orders them to be released.

Adj. Gen. Alexander Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date includes the following additional general order: “A sub., serjeant and Twenty rank & file from Genl Muhlenbergs Brigade for fatigue Tomorrow ⟨mutilated⟩ to parade as Us⟨ual⟩” (orderly book, 22 Dec. 1778–26 June 1779, DNA: RG 93, Orderly Books, 1775–1783, vol. 28).
1. Another enlisted man from Capt. Bartholomew von Heer’s Maréchaussée Corps subsequently was tried on these charges and convicted of attempted desertion (see General Orders, 1 April).
