General Orders

Head-Quarters Morristown monday Jany 24th 1780.

Adj. Gen. Alexander Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date includes the following additional general orders: “Brigade Major Tomorrow of Hands Brigade. A Detachment from the line compleatly Equipp’d, with two Days Provisions to parade tomorrow Morning Nine o’Clock.

“For Detachment tomorrow Field Officers. Colonel Ogdon Lieutenant Colonels Ford, Hait & Mentges Majors Dean. Darrow. and Grosh. A surgeon from Genl Maxwells Brigade and a Mate from Genl Starks.”

Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date also includes the following after orders: “Lt Coll Huntingdon is to go on the Detachment under Coll Ogdon in place of Lt Coll Hait who is Sick & Major Grier in place of Major Darrows who is also sick” (orderly book, 17 Oct. 1779–22 March 1780, DNA: RG 93, Orderly Books, 1775–1783, vol. 33).
