To George Washington from St. Cosme, 24 June 1789

From St. Cosme

Basse Terre [Guadeloupe] 24 June 1789. Requests GW’s aid in securing his admission into the Society of the Cincinnati: “j’ai ete Blessé au siege de Savannah d’un Coup de fusil au travers de La poitrine a Le tete du Det achement de quatre cens hommes du Regt D’armagnac.”

ALS, DSoC.

St. Cosme enclosed in his letter to GW two memorials addressed to the committee of the society requesting membership (DSoC). Probably because his military rank during the war was not high enough to merit admission, St. Cosme never became a member of the Cincinnati.
