Dear Sir
Your Favor of the 20th I have Recieved.1 As Soon as your Furniture arrives I will take Care of it and put it in my store.2 If it is possible I will Engage a Room for you for an Office—it will be difficult to get One. I hope to be Able to get my House done so that I may Remove at the time I promised Mrs. Hamilton.3 I hardly Doubt, but I shall. I Inclose an order on the Bank of Albany for 2329.85 D,4 which if it is paid I will thank you to get me a post Note for it or if it Suits the Bank better let them Credit the Bank of NYork for it.

2. Sands’s warehouse was located at 6 Depeyster Street.
3. At this time H’s house and law office were both located at 63 Pine Stree. An entry in H’s Cash Book, 1795–1804, for May 27, 1796, reads: “Account of Expences Dr. to Cash for this sum pd. Comfort Sands for rent of House lately occupied by me on Pine Street No. 63 375” (AD, Hamilton Papers, Library of Congress; also in , forthcoming volumes).
4. In the Hamilton Papers, Library of Congress, is a note in H’s handwriting, dated May 3, 1795, which is appended to this letter. This note reads:
