Richmond, April 13, 1791. Encloses list of proposed inspectors of revenue for Virginia. Asks Hamilton to “suspend issueing the commissions” until Edward Carrington indicates “the determinations of the gentlemen who are appointed Inspectors.”

1Jackson, who had served as a major under Benjamin Lincoln during the American Revolution, had been secretary of the Constitutional Convention in 1787. He became one of George Washington’s secretaries in 1789.
