Vous trouverez ci-joint, M, le sauf-conduit que le Roi a bien voulu accorder au Sr. Price; cette pièce mettra ce particulier en état de Suivre tranquilement et sûrement ses affaires. Mr. Dudon, procureur-général du parlement de Bordeaux, préviendra M. le garde des sceaux dans le cas où le Sr. laframboise ou autres feroient des poursuites contre le Sieur Price.8

8On Sept. 13 James Price sent word to BF that he had “Compleatly gained his Suit at Parliament against Mr. John Bondfield with all Costs, damages &c. All the Voices were Unanimous in Mr. Price’s favr.”: V. & p. French & Nephew to WTF, Sept. 13, 1783, APS. Bondfield, Haywood & Co. evidently refused to accept the verdict, prompting Price to petition the Parlement for an affirmation of judgment and a citation against his adversaries for contempt of court. Price’s appeal was published: Durand Echeverria and Everett C. Wilkie, Jr., comps., The French Image of America … (2 vols., Metuchen, N.J., and London, 1994), I, 534.
