London Dec. 13. 1765

Dear Child,

I can only write one Line to let you know I am well, and shall write fully to you and all my Friends as soon as [the] Parliament adjourns for the Holidays, which it will do next Week.8 I receiv’d [your] kind Letters per Friend and per the Packet.9 My Love to Sally and all Friends. I am, Your ever affectionate Husband

8Parliament was summoned to meet on Dec. 17, 1765, because of the disturbing news from America. Within a very few days, however, both houses adjourned until Jan. 14, 1766. London Chron., Dec. 17–19, 19–21, 1765.
