To the Board of Trade
In Council Oct. 30. 1779
It is recommended to the Board of trade to take measures for the immediate purchase of necessary cloathing for the use of the Cherokee Indians wherever to be found within this state. Majr. Martin the agent with them will be able to give them information as to the articles and quantities.
Th: Jefferson
RC (Vi). Endorsed: “Recommendations from the Executive to furnish Sundries for Cherokees.”
A MS (Vi) ccompanying this letter, presumably in the hand of Majr. Joseph Martin, agent to the Cherokees, lists the quantities of blankets, coats, shirts, cloth and thread required.
