[Philadelphia] April 19. 1794.
The Secretary of the Treasury presents his respects to the President of the United States, and encloses herewith the draft of a passport for the Sloop Dove for the President’s signature.1 It will be forwarded by Mr Goodhue, who will call for it at the Secretary’s Office.2

1. GW signed the enclosed passport, which has not been identified, later on this date. The sloop Dove, Capt. Friend Dole, was granted permission to sail from Newburyport, Mass., “in ballast,” to any island in the West Indies (, 299–300).
2. Massachusetts congressman Benjamin Goodhue was currently in Philadelphia to attend the first session of the Third Congress. Hamilton’s office was at 100 Chesnut Street.
