Yours of this morning has just reached me.1 In consequence of Advice recd this day of the Enemy’s having sent a Number of Vessels up the Sound and that others are moving up the North River, I shall march with the Army to morrow Morning towards New Windsor. You are to follow immediately with your own and Colo. Ogdens Regiments thro’ the Clove. I have given Colo. Morgan his directions and what Rout he is to take. Be pleased to forward the inclosed to Colo. Moylan by Express, as it contains his order of march.2 I am Sir Yr most obt Servt

2. The enclosed letter from GW’s aide-de-camp Tench Tilghman to Col. Stephen Moylan of this date orders Moylan to march his troop of horse to New Windsor, N.Y.: “In Consequence of Advices recd this day, the Army marches tomorrow morning for New Windsor. You will follow with your Regiment immediately, taking your Rout thro’ the Clove. Orders are sent to Colo. [Theodorick] Bland, who will come on by the way of Morris Town, you need not therefore send to him” (MH). Tilghman wrote a similar letter to Bland on this date conveying GW’s orders for Bland to march for New Windsor by way of Morristown (see , 60).
