May it please Your Excellency
Your favour of the 23d Instant Respecting the Great want of Blankets for the Army, I Receeiv’d this Day;1 & Communicated the Same to the Congress now Setting, Who Immediately went into the Consideration, And Resolv’d to take the Most speedy and effectual method, in order to purchase all that Can be Spared within this Colony; tho’ we are fearful whether any Considerable Number can be Obtaind: Yet we do not despair of procuring some, which will be forwarded to Your Excellency with all Possible Dispatch.2 I am with Great Respect your Excellys most Hble Servt

2. The New Hampshire provincial congress this day resolved “that such of the members of this Body as think that Blanketts can be procured in their respective Towns & places, be desired to write to ... inform the Selectmen or Committee of their respective Towns & places, That a Number of Blanketts are greatly wanting for the use of the Continental army, and that it is requested of them within ten days at least from this time, to send to this Congress or to the Committee at Exeter, what number of good Blanketts they can buy in their respective Towns & places, with the prices thereof Assuring them that on the Delivery thereof the money will be paid” (, 7:697).
