From Captain Abiathar Angel

Camp at Roxbury [Mass.] 2 September 1775.

“Being in a Very Poor State of Health and Some Misunderstandings happening Between Me & Some of My Company, which I did Not Expect, which Renders it difficult for me to Serve With Pleasure—I therefor Move to Your Excelly for Leave to Resign My Command in Favor of Capt. Henry Work.”

Abiathar Angel (1744–1830) of Lanesboro was a captain in Col. David Brewer’s Massachusetts regiment. Angel rejoined the army in July 1776 as a captain in Col. Seth Warner’s additional regiment and served at least until the following March.
