Treasury Department, 9 May 1792. Transmits “a fair copy of the Draft approved by the President this morning respecting the Port of Entry & Delivery in the District of Vermont.”1

1The enclosure says “that pursuant to the provision in that behalf made by the Act intitled ‘An Act for raising a further sum of money for the protection of the Frontiers, and for other purposes therein mentioned’ [of 2 May 1792] I have appointed, and by these presents do appoint the Island of South Hero in Lake Champlain to be the Port of Entry and Delivery within and for the District of Vermont” (LB, DLC:GW; see also Annals of Congress description begins Joseph Gales, Sr., comp.
