Treasury Departmt March 26th—1793.
The Secretary of the Treasury has the honor to submit to the consideration of the President of the United States, a communication from the commissioner of the Revenue, relating to a Contract for the building of a Beacon-boat for the use of the River and Bay of Delaware.1 He can add nothing to what is suggested by the Commissioner; in whose view of the subject he concurs.

1. Tench Goxe’s letter to Hamilton has not been identified. On 16 Mar. 1793 Philadelphia shipmaster James Wilson had entered into a contract with William Allibone, the superintendent of the lighthouses in the Delaware Bay area, to build a “Floating Beacon with Two masts and Cages” for $264 by 1 June 1793 (sold by Superior Galleries, Manuscript Society Sale, lot 1471, item 1, 15 Oct. 1991). GW approved Wilson’s contract on 26 Mar. ( 107).
