Sir,
You did me the honor, some time since, of accepting a printed copy of a paper of mine, which had been read before the American Philosophical Society. I now, Sir, take the liberty of offering for your acceptance the inclosed Supplement to that paper.1 With sentiments of the highest respect, & most perfect attachment I have the honor to be, Sir, Your most obedt hble Servant

Although the supplement enclosed in this letter has not been found, a copy of Barton’s Observations on the Progress of Population, and the Probabilities of the Duration of Human Life, in the United States of America. Read before the American Philosophical Society Held at Philadelphia, for Promoting Useful Knowledge (Philadelphia, 1791) was in GW’s library at the time of his death ( 19).
