Charleston, S.C., 29 Mar. 1790. “The sole designe of this letter is to signify to you Sir, That I have a very great desire of serving in some executive appointment under the Union—Should any office present itself for which in your opinion I am Qualified, no person shall be more carefull to do Justice to such appointment than Sir your most obedient & very humble Servant.”1
