1. The letters from John Habersham to Knox of 23 and 29 April, which have not been identified, concerned the readiness of the Georgia militia ( 149–50). Habersham enclosed in his letter to Knox of 3 May a deposition from James Aiken of that date and a letter from Indian agent Timothy Barnard to James Seagrove of 9 April. Both documents discussed Creek depredations in Georgia ( 1:389–91). Henry Gaither’s letter to Knox of 6 May has not been identified, but for its enclosures, letters from Barnard to Gaither of 20 and 26 April describing the deepening Creek Indian threat to Georgia’s frontier, see ibid., 420–21.
