I have again Received from Mr Francis Deakins some Money on your Account, say Seventy Nine dollars, two Tobacco Notes 1953 lb. Nett & a Statement, all of which you have here inclosed, (the Money counts Eighty dollars which is one more than is your due, but that I have placed to your Account for the want of change to make out the exact sum[)]1—Mrs Peter sends her Love to you, Mrs Washington & Nelly, my very best Respects, & am with much Esteem Dear sir yours Sincy

At the end of the account Francis Deakins wrote to GW: “Sir I Send you through Mr Peter 798 & two Tobo Notes 1953 lb. Recd of John Warring—he & Mrs [Priscilla] Beall I expect are now within what they can accomplish next fall—Mr ⟨illegible⟩ will probably give Mr Veatch Trouble as he has not yet brot in any thing.”
At the bottom of his letter Thomas Peter indicated that the tobacco notes 714 and 715 were for 972 and 981 lbs. of tobacco in “George Town Center Warehouse”; and he also indicated that of the eighty dollars, $20 of it was a U.S. Bank note, $20, $20, and $10 Baltimore Bank notes, and $10 Alexandria Bank notes.
