I approve much of the Preposal of a strong Colony at the Illinois.1 It is well listned to here; But all affairs, except what immediately relate to Great Britain are laid aside, until the Season of Publick Business comes on and until the Ministry, are a little better settled.

9. So dated because in their letter to Sir William Johnson of August 28, 1766, Baynton, Wharton & Morgan identified the extract as being from the last letter received from BF by the June packet. That must have been BF’s letter to the firm of June 8, which Baynton, Wharton & Morgan acknowledged receiving in their letter to him of Aug. 28, 1766 (below, p. 395).
