2. The Post Office commission that was issued to BF and Foxcroft, Sept. 25, 1765, was to be valid “for and during the Term of three Years, or ’till they receive a new Commission from Us, or ’till this present Commission be superceded.” Above, XII, 280–2. The editors know of no circumstance requiring a new commission in the spring of 1767, and the document itself has not been located. On June 4, 1767, BF procured a draft for thirty guineas in favor of Potts and charged Foxcroft and himself each £15 15s. “for renewing Commission.” Journal, 1764–1776, p. 12; Ledger, 1764–1776, pp. 5, 20, 27.
