Recived of Bn. Franklin Esqr: six louis d’ors. to assist me in returning to america, which I promise to Repay to the honble: the president of Congress, or his order. I have sign’d three notes of this Tenor and date Either of which being paid, the others to be null.

2. An escaped prisoner from Plymouth, Mass.: Alphabetical List of Escaped Prisoners. Three other prisoners cited on the Alphabetical List signed handwritten promissory notes during the period of this volume: Francis Hodgson of Philadelphia was given six louis on Dec. 8, Jonas Levy received four louis on Jan. 24, and Elijah Lowe received six louis on Feb. 25. APS. BF also received a promissory note for five louis from Capt. John Robertson on Jan. 9; see BF to Robertson, Jan. 28. As of Feb. 18, BF would begin to use printed promissory note forms; see James Mullin’s note of that date.
