7The Monday preceding Nov. 14, 1782, when we know that Thomas Walpole and his son, Thomas Walpole, Jr. (XXV, 273), were in Paris. On that day they attended a dinner hosted by Bancroft that also included Jay, Vaughan, and Ridley: Klingelhofer, “Matthew Ridley’s Diary,” p. 129.

8Bancroft also wrote on an unspecified Saturday morning to WTF, inviting him and BF to dine that day with Walpole and his son (APS).
