Mde. Pechigny supplie monsieur franklin de vouloir bien lui permettre le 26. du present, de lui presenter lhommage de sa vive reconnoissance en lui remettant les 300 l.t. que noblement il lui a preté et dagréer les regret de limpossibilité ou elle a èté de ne les lui avoir pas remis plûtot.8

Si monsieur franklin a un protegé qui enseigne langlois mde. pechigny le prie de lui procurer, étant dans lintention de n’en prendre dautre part que de la sienne pour le premier janvier prochain.9

8Mme Pechigny received this loan on Feb. 27: Account XVII (XXVI, 3), entry of Feb. 28, 1782.

9An undated letter from Mme Pechigny to WTF (University of Pa. Library) suggests that he recommended a teacher to her at a time when she had only one student. She says she can offer WTF’s protégé room, board, and one louis d’or a month; once she has other students she will offer the teacher a regular salary and the freedom to give lessons in Passy. She signs herself Devillier Pechigny.
