I have received your letter of the 20th Ultimo,2 and shall consider the several suggestions contained in it.
The subject of compensation will come into view when the law3 shall be under revision.

In “Report on the Difficulties in the Execution of the Act Laying Duties on Distilled Spirits,” March 5, 1792, H recommended an increase in the compensation of supervisors of the revenue beyond that allowed by “An Act repealing, after the last day of June next, the duties heretofore laid upon Distilled Spirits imported from abroad, and laying others in their stead; and also upon Spirits distilled within the United States, and for appropriating the same” ( 199–214 [March 3, 1791]).
