I nominate John Heard of New Jersey to be Collector of the port of Perth Amboy vice Daniel March deceased.

Meriwether Lewis delivered TJ’s message to the Senate on 3 May, the last day of the session. The Senate immediately confirmed Heard’s appointment (JEP description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate of the United States … to the Termination of the Nineteenth Congress, Washington, D.C., 1828, 3 vols. description ends , 1:424–5).
