AD, General Ledger A description begins General Ledger A, 1750–1772. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , folio 232, 234.

GW debited John Parke Custis’s guardian account this amount for payment to Susanna Bishop for “Tayloring” (Guardian Accounts, 11 April 1767).

This was in Maryland currency.

In his account with Hector Ross, GW’s entry of 17 June 1766 on the Contra side of the ledger credits Ross with £7.13.9 “By Doctr Nisbets judgmt—for Jedh Mitchell,” and on 21 July he records having paid Ross £7.13.9 (General Ledger A description begins General Ledger A, 1750–1772. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , folio 111).

Edward Payne was the collector of the parish levy for Truro Parish. In addition to GW’s transfer (loose) tobacco note for 1,034 pounds in Hector Ross’s hands, GW paid Payne 2,686 pounds of tobacco, for a total of 3,720 pounds for his annual levy. See General Ledger A description begins General Ledger A, 1750–1772. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , folio 111, 224.

See GW to Hanbury, 28 June 1766, n.1. GW gave Benjamin Sebastian, Jr., £6 in silver (£7.10 in Virginia money) to take his watch and gold chain to London for repair and to have a new gold case put on the watch. The work was done by John Waldron and cost £1.16.3 more than GW had given to Sebastian. See General Ledger A description begins General Ledger A, 1750–1772. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , folio 235.
