From George Washington to James Carter, 27 April 1772

To James Carter

Mount Vernon April 27th 1772

Sir,

As it has been your usual Custom to discharge the Interest of your Bond at the April Genl Court I have directed Mr James Hill to call upon you for it as I can not be down myself & he is directed in respect to the application of the Money.1 His receipt with this Letter will be equal to one passed from Sir Yr Most Obedt Servt
