1. William Gray (Grey), a mulatto, was hired only for a short time as a ditcher (General Ledger B description begins General Ledger B, 1772–1793. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , folio 58).

Manuscript in Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, Calif. description ends , or “Pocket day-Book or Cash-Memorandums,” for 9 Aug. 1772 through 27 May 1773 is a small book that GW kept to record cash transactions, bonds, agreements, and other information, most of which he copied into his cash accounts in Ledger B description begins General Ledger B, 1772–1793. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends . This is the first of several such books which have survived. The entries in the day books sometimes give more detailed information than those in his ledger, and occasionally he fails to transfer an item to the cash accounts. Most of the day books are in DLC:GW.

4. The £34.9 was for “Sundry Services done at the request of Colo. T. Colvill,” and the £5.11 was for “Surveying & dividing the Accatinck Tract” (General Ledger B description begins General Ledger B, 1772–1793. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , folio 21).
