Dear Sir,
Mrs Washington proposing to leave Mount Vernon as this day, will, I expect, be in Philadelphia on Thursday; and as she proposes to lodge at Mr Morris’s I would be obliged to you for having the enclosed letter for her lodged there against her arrival as she may find it necessary to write to me by Fridays Post.1 I am Dr Sir Yr most obedt Servt

1. Letter not found. Mrs. Washington destroyed nearly all of the correspondence between herself and her husband shortly before her death in 1802. Only three letters, those of 18 and 23 June 1775, and a short note of introduction, 1 Oct. 1782, from GW to her survive; in addition, one brief note from Mrs. Washington to GW is attached to a farm report from Lund Washington to GW, 30 Mar. 1767.
