This day the Marquis de Verac the french minister here gave a mascarade ball and supper for the birth of the Dauphin.1 Mr. D. went there. Mr. Artaud dined and supped out. Stay’d at home all day.

1. Louis Joseph Xavier François (1781–1789), eldest son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.
