To Thomas Jefferson from John Bradford, 12 January 1791

From John Bradford

Lexington [Ky.], 12 Jan. 1791. Remsen’s letter requesting “one copy of the Kentucky news papers” to be sent by post to Secretary of State and to commence from 1 Oct. 1790 did not come to hand until 20 Dec., hence he “could not procure papers farther back than Novr. 27.” There being no direct communication between that place and Philadelphia, he “will send them by every Opportunity.”

RC (DNA: RG 59, PDL); endorsed: Sep. 1790. Bradford was editor of “Staunton Forwd. by P. Hieskell”; en The Kentucky Gazette, the only paper dorsed by Remsen as received 28 Feb. then being published in Kentucky
