Attended my Duty upon Committees.1 Dined at home.

The Committee met, agreed to found our rights upon the laws of Nature, the principles of the English Constitution, and charters and compacts; ordered a Sub-Committee to draw up a Statement of Rights” (Samuel Ward, Diary, Burnett, ed., Letters of Members description begins Edmund C. JA was a member of the subcommittee, whose proceedings he later described at some length but not entirely accurately in his Autobiography.
