1After the American Revolution, Wadsworth continued his mercantile pursuits in Hartford, Connecticut. He was elected to Congress in 1787 and 1788, and he was also a member of the state Ratifying Convention in 1788. He was a founder of the Bank of North America in Philadelphia, a director of the Bank of the United States, president of the Bank of New York, and a promoter of the Hartford Woolen Manufactory, established in 1788.
