The Preceding are extracts of Letters from Capt. Benjn. Peirce of New port Rhode Island who has commanded a Ship in the Trade to Denmark for several Years and is very respectable in his line and in much repute for his Knowledge in that trade.

Benjamin Bourne, a congressman from Rhode Island, proffered this letter and its enclosure in connection with the preparation of TJ’s Report on Commerce, which was at length submitted to Congress on 16 Dec. 1793. See note 33 to Document I of a group of documents on the report, printed above under that date.
