Sir,

Congress have by a Resolution of which the enclosed is a copy confirmed the Arrangement of the Officers of the Massachusetts-line, & directed Commissions for them to be issued accordingly.1 I have the Honor to be &ca.

LB, DNA:PCC, item 14. In his reply to this letter, GW indicated that Jay also enclosed a printed copy of a Congressional circular letter (see GW to Jay, 25 Sept.).

1. The enclosure has not been identified, but for this resolution, dated 6 Sept., see JCC, description begins Worthington Chauncey Ford et al., eds. Journals of the Continental Congress, 1774-1789. 34 vols. Washington, D.C., 1904–37. description ends 15:1033. GW had transmitted the arrangement to Jay on 5 Aug. (first letter).
