1A tavern owned by Ann Gassaway Rollins (Rawlins, Rawlings) and her son Gassaway Rollins was near the South River in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

2Rock Hall is on the Chesapeake Bay in Kent County on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

3This is Chestertown, Maryland.

4GW had his first meal in Philadelphia while attending the Continental Congress at City (or New) Tavern on the west side of Second Street, above Walnut.

5The crossing was at Wilmington, Delaware.

6George Mann (1753–1795) kept a well-regarded tavern in Annapolis, sometimes called the City Hotel.
